31 Days of Productivity: Days 5-7

8 Oct

Whew. That is all I can say after this weekend. We worked our tails off on projects and it felt great to get so much accomplished! Of course today I’m totally wiped out and need a day at home to rest! Ha! Instead I’ll relax with my feet propped up at my desk.

We were able to scratch 4 things off the list. We both got up early
Saturday morning and got right to work. We drove up north to get a load of gravel to finish the walkway in the yard. While Jason unloaded all the gravel, I decorated the house with fall décor! It looks so cozy now. After that, we used the truck to get rid of the old full size mattress that was in the guest bedroom turned nursery and then returned the truck. Once we got back from all of that and grabbing lunch, we got to work on the board and batten project in the nursery. It was our (and by “our” I really mean Jason’s) first time to use an electric saw and a nail gun, so we took our time at first to figure out what we were doing. We worked until about 10 that night and made a huge amount of progress. I’m not going to lie and say it is perfect, but considering this was our first ever trim project, it looks pretty good. Let’s just say we won’t be quitting our day jobs any time soon to become trim carpenters :) On Sunday morning I cleaned up the house a little in the morning and made a big breakfast because I was starving. We both dreaded getting started on the nursery again, even though we were so close to being done. We finished our last cuts and were short a couple of boards, so we had to make a Lowe’s run. Jason finished nailing up the last few boards while I jumped in the shower to get ready for the fall party at the neighbors. We made some pumpkin bars and then went to the party for a couple hours and then came back to watch a little football (since we didn’t watch ANY this weekend due to projects) and rest.

At about 9 Jason decided he would bring the crib in and assemble it (I wasn’t going to ask since we had already done so much). While he put the crib together I filled all the nail holes in the boards. By 10:30 the crib was complete and the nail holes filled! It really feels like a nursery now! We still have to do some serious caulking of the cracks between the boards and then a coat or two of paint, but we will finish that up this week. The crib is really pretty and I think it will be perfect for the nursery. It is low profile, which is good since I’m pretty short! Here are some photos I snapped on my phone!

I’ll admit that I already took the relaxing bubble bath (two actually) that is last on the list. Jason got it ready for me Saturday night because I was so sore from all the up and down from the floor and climbing the steps in the house and it was glorious (it was the first bath ever taken in our Jacuzzi tub too). After the party on Sunday I decided to take another one since I was cold and sore! I have a feeling I will be enjoying that spa bath a lot between now and January!

We started on finishing the trim for the master bath and will finish that up tonight (so we can return the tools to our friend) so hopefully I can scratch that tomorrow! I also have to order the bedding from RH today (last day of the sale)! I wanted to do that this weekend, but we couldn’t fit it in to the schedule.
