31 Days of Productivity- Day 11

12 Oct

It’s the weekend baby (almost)! This week seems to have flown by with the two doctor appointments taking up so much time.

All I can mark off for yesterday was contacting the painter. That shouldn’t even really count (I should have put getting the cabinet painted instead) but oh well. He is a couple weeks out on jobs so we will be waiting a little longer. Boo. We spent over an hour last night just caulking the board and batten and we aren’t even half-way done. We are going to finish up caulking and sanding and then paint this weekend! It is really looking good in there now that the caulk is covering up the nail holes and cracks.

Speaking of the board and batten, there are tons of tutorials on the internet. Just google board and batten and you will find them all. I read through several different tutorials and pieced together our own way of doing it. All in all, we spent around $180 on materials (boards, caulk and nail hole filler) for a room that is approximately 12×18 and took us less than 10 hours to complete. The trim carpenter quoted $1400 to do the project (no caulking), so I’m thinking we definitely made a good decision to DIY (I’ll reserve my final opinion until I see it all painted). Like I said earlier, it definitely isn’t perfect and there are some things we would do differently if we were to do it again, but overall, it is a pretty simple project. Jason loved using the nail gun and kinda liked using the saw (although that part caused some serious frustration at times), so I think he will be willing to do more projects as long as they involve the nail gun! Ha!

I need to get a few things off this list over the weekend (I feel like it is a never-ending list)! I don’t know what I’ll work on, but things must get done! I still have a lot of energy these days (although crawling around on the floor caulking the baseboards is getting more challenging), so I really want to make use of my time before I lose all my energy!

One last baby update for this week- the doctor called and said both of my ultrasounds looked normal (which is what the tech said too), so that is great news!
